CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR LAW - EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2011
In an attempt to further protect Wisconsin residents from the gas dubbed “the silent killer,” former Governor Doyle signed a law that will require all homes to contain a working carbon monoxide detector beginning February 1.
The new law expands the current carbon monoxide detector requirements to all one- and two-family homes, and requires carbon monoxide alarms to be installed in the basements and on each floor level except the attic or storage areas.
